Seasons: March to May and September to early November months, except wet months from mid-June to mid-September falls within Monsoon time with heavy rains and dark clouds to obstruct the views and walks. March to May the best time when morning to mid-day with clear fine weather for views and walks with mild temperatures, right times for Nar-Phu and High Annapurna trek when wildflowers are in full bloom especially the rhododendron. October to early November months another best time for treks around autumn/fall where days are clear for views as well right temperatures for walks cold during night and morning times with chances of snow in high areas of Annapurna above 1,800 meters high.

Nar-Phu and High Annapurna Trekking where trekkers will be fascinated with its marvelous views and dramatic scenery of high mountains that surrounds the beautiful valley of Manang and Nar-Phu villages. A great wonderful journey into hidden Shangri-la on less frequented areas of Nepal North Mid-West into the magnificent country of Nar and Phu two separate villages of age-old culture and colorful heritage to explore on a trek to high and above Manang valley. Starting Nar-Phu and High Annapurna Trekking with an interesting long and scenic drive to reach low warmer areas of Lamjung district at Besar town and heading beyond where our adventurous walk begins into high cooler hills and within the lovely forest and traditional farm villages. The adventure continues past nice villages enriched with interesting Buddhist culture the leaving the main trail of Annapurna circuit towards the complete wilderness to reach hidden villages of Nar and Phu. At Nar-Phu where you will be soaked with tremendous views of high mountains that surround you along with local impressive ancient heritage culture of Phu and Nar villages with time to explore its village and old monasteries of great interest. Enjoying marvelous time around the hidden and wild country of Nar-Phu where the adventure leads to cross high and scenic Kang-la pass to reach back on the main popular Annapurna circuit route towards main Manang impressive village. From Manang trail follows to climb up to the highest point of the adventure reaching at Thorang-la pass above the height of 5,416 m with a breathtaking panorama of the mountain range and then down to Kaligandaki  River valley after visiting the holy site of Muktinath. Walk finally comes to an end at large town of Jomsom located on famous Annapurna circuit route and Old Trans Himalayan Salt Trade trail to Tibet beyond Upper Mustang. Jomsom the main village and town of Thakali people the major tribe residing around Kaligandaki River valley bounded with Buddhism religion and fascinating culture. From Jomsom, morning flight reaches you at a most scenic city in Pokhara besides it beautiful Phewa Lake to conclude our marvelous adventure Nar-Phu and High Annapurna Trekking.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

On arrival at Kathmandu international airport received by Yeti Mountain staff and guides for short transfer to your hotel in the center of Kathmandu city around interesting Thamel area or nearby. On checking into your rooms getting refreshed briefing of the treks with other useful information, with welcome dinner in nice Nepalese restaurants with cultural programs.

Day 02: Tour of Kathmandu heritage sites of great interest.

Morning by 9 a.m. where our city guide will take you for an interesting tour around great places steeped with world heritage sites and monuments, after a half day or full day tour back to the hotel with trek preparation.

Day 03: Drive to Syange 1,340 village via Besar town 795 m - 06 hrs.

The morning starts with a long and interesting drive on Nepal main busy highway to reach at Dumre town (midway from Kathmandu and Pokhara), from here leaving the main road heading into farm country to reach Besar a large town and headquarter of Lamjung district. From here few hours drives follows River Marysangdi to reach our overnight stop at Syange village after an exciting day drive s.  

Day 04: Trek to Dharapani 1,920 m via - 06 hrs.

After a refreshing stop at Syange village start the first day walk with a climb to reach Jagat and then to Chamje village crossing over a river towards the forested area, with superb views of Annapurna and Manaslu mountain ranges. The walk continues to Tal Besi village, and then a few hours walks take you at Dharapani village for an overnight stop.

Day 05: Trek to Kotto 2,580 m near Chame 2,670 m - 05 hrs.

Morning walk leads on the winding path within rhododendron, pine forest past Bagarchap and Danque villages, then climb to Timing village from here on into more Buddhist cultural areas facing grand views of Mt. Manaslu range.  From Timing village a few hours trek leads to Koto for overnight stop which is close to Chame town, a large town and headquarter of Manang area.

Day 06: Trek to Dharmashala 3,230m - 05 hours.

After Koto our route heads north away from Annapurna circuit trail for a week heading towards Nar & Phu villages, in the hidden areas of Upper Manang valley near South West Tibet border in the country of blue sheep and snow leopards. Trek leads into a narrow valley with a forest of pines and rhododendron trees, then reaching nice pasture fields with huts and sheds of Yak herders and in the gorge formed by Pisang Peak and Kang-guru Himal lower basin, the walk continues following Nar-Phu River upstream to reach at Dharmashala for an overnight stop.

Day 07: Trek to Kyang 3,820 m - 6 hrs. 

Morning walk leads towards far north towards Phu village isolated area of dry, arid landscapes, on the lookout for some wildlife’s Blue Sheep’s, Snow Leopard, Musk deer’s and mountain goats.  The walk continues to Kyang for overnight stop after an interesting day, Kyang with dozen houses of Tibetan culture. 

Day 08: Trek to Phu village 4,080 m - 06 hours.

Today destination to Phu village morning walk towards Phu River following upstream for some time and then descending back to river again, then climb to reach a gorge valley, walking around gorge for some time and up into a wide glacial valley with pasture lands ending at Phu village of strong Tibetan influence culture, traditions and religion. 

Day 09: Rest at Phu village, visit and hike around Phu village and valley.

A necessary rest day at Phu for acclimatization, explore this impressive village visit Tashilkhang and Samdu Choling Monastery and Kyauchyu waterfalls, Phu Village with about 30 houses for 100 to 150 inhabitants. 

Day 10: Trek to Nar Phedi 3,545 m - 06 hrs.

From Phu village walk leads back on the same trail for few hours descending to a narrow gorge at Phu Khola, from here a slow climb to reach at Yughat small village with mani, chortens and Buddhist shrines, then finally reaching on a flat field at Nar Phedi for an overnight stop. 

Day 11: Trek to Nar-Gaon 4,206 m - 06 hrs.

Morning walk leads back to Phu Khola for few hours to reach a suspension bridge over Phu Khola, crossing the bridge with a steep climb for few hours reaching a flat area then walk to Nar village for overnight.  Nargaon in comparison with Phu looks similar but smaller due to its remoteness with high altitude and dry land.

Day 12: Trek to Kang La Base Camp 4,530 m - 05 hrs.

After Nar-Gaon walk leads to remote areas, away from human settlement for a few days, an interesting walk for few hours then with short ups and downs in some rocky and arid path, passing cattle herders shelters and grazing field heading further west following Temdenzon Khola in this wild surrounding with views of snow peaks and finally reaching at Kang la pass base for overnight camp at 4,530 meters altitude.

Day 13: Cross Kangla Pass 5,322m and trek to Ngawal 3,650 m - 07 hrs.

Starting early morning to cross Kang-la at an altitude of 5,322 meters, walk climbs higher on a steep slope for few hours with stunning views of Pisang Peak with Chulu Far East Peak, and then reaching the top of the pass with wonderful views of Annapurna massif mountain range, Chulu Peaks, Lamjung Himal and adjoining peaks of Annapurna range, and then walk downhill to Ngawal via Julu village close to Manang village to reach at main route on Annapurna circuit trail. 

Day 14: Trek to Manang 3,450 m - 04 hrs.

After Nar& Phu and crossing Kangla the pass which separates from main Manang high valleys, morning a pleasant walk downhill to Humde village, then walk to Braga village and visit its old monastery with ancient artifacts and statue of various Buddha with a mind-blowing panorama of snow-capped mountains. After a wonderful time in the monastery, an hour walk leads to main Manang village for overnight. 

Day 15: Trek to Yak Kharka 4,110m - 04 hrs.

After a pleasant overnight at Manang main village walk leads toward Ghunsang village with short uphill to reach Yak Kharka, an interesting walk with views of snowcapped mountains, on crossing a small stream reaching Yak Kharka for an overnight stop, a small settlement with views of Gangapurna, Annapurna III and Chulu Peaks. 

Day 16: Trek to Thorang High Camp 4,600 m - 04 hrs. 

Morning head towards the higher area, to reach at the base of Thorang-la after a climb along the river bank, the walk reaches at Thorang Phedi, from here hour steep climb to Thorang High Camp for an overnight stop. 

Day 17: Cross Thorang-La 5,416 m and to Muktinath 3,800 m - 07 hrs. 

Our highest point of the adventure with an early start for the long climb to reach Thorang-la walking on the steep winding route on top Thorang-La Pass at the height of 5,416 m / 17,700 ft high, offers super views of snowcapped peaks after feeling high a long descend leads you at Muktinath.  On reaching Muktinath for an overnight stop, a holy site for both Hindu and Buddhists the word Muktinath means ‘a place for Nirvana or Liberation’.

Day 18: Trek to Jomsom 2, 715 m - 04 hrs.

From Muktinath, rest of the journey much easier as walk leads to a big drop of 1,200m downhill to Kaligandaki river valley to reach Jomsom, headquarter town of Mustang region with small airstrip above Kaligandaki River.  At Jomsom enjoy an afternoon walking around the shops and streets of Jomsom and observe the interesting culture of Thakali people on this old Trans Himalayan Salt and Caravan route of Nepal and Tibet. Jomsom a nice town similar to Tibetan style houses with paved streets and numerous well kept lodges for travelers. 

Day 19: Morning flight to Pokhara 860 m transfer to hotel. 

From here, last day of our adventure taking an early morning short flight to reach famous and scenic Pokhara city by its calm Phewa Lake for an overnight stop, with a free afternoon to explore around interesting Pokhara city. 

Day 20: Drive or fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

Morning transfer for the overland journey back to Kathmandu where a drive leads on the scenic and interesting road past farm villages and towns and then uphill to reach Kathmandu valley and the city. After an exciting drive of 5-6 hours reaching Kathmandu and transfer to hotel with afternoon free for individual activities. (Flying options of 30 minutes to reach Kathmandu from Pokhara).

Day 21: International departure for homeward bound.

Last day in Nepal the country of Himalayan wonders and impressive cultures, as your international flight time transfer to the international airport in Kathmandu for home-ward bound or to respective destinations, after a memorable experience on Nar-Phu and High Annapurna Trekking with grand service of Yeti Mountain Treks.
