Trip Profile:

Trip Mode: Staying in tourist standard hotels while in cities of Kathmandu and Pokhara. On treks staying overnight in nice local lodges.

Trek Grade: Moderate to Adventurous walks with uphill and downhill gaining altitude gradually.

Trekking Areas:  Nepal North Mid-West around Lamjung, Manang, Mustang, Mygdi and Kaski districts within Annapurna and close to Dhaulagiri Himalaya.

Trekking Duration: 12 nights and 13 days with drives both ways from Kathmandu and at end of the trek to Pokhara.

People and Culture: Lower area mix tribes of people both Hindu and Buddhist religions with various interesting cultures, high Manang and Mustang areas populated by Tibetan origin tribe of North West Nepal Mountain with strong Buddhism religion.

Total Trip: 16 Nights and 17 Days from Arrival to departure (Kathmandu to Kathmandu).

Seasons: March to May and September to mid-December months, except wet months from mid-June to mid-September, falls within Monsoon time with heavy rains and dark clouds to obstruct the views and walks. March to May the best time when morning to mid-day with clear fine weather for views and walks with mild temperatures, right times for Annapurna Circuit trek when wildflowers are in full bloom especially the rhododendron. Rhododendron from tall trees to bushes with flowers that blossom of various species and colors that decorate the hill and valleys (national flower of Nepal), regarded as the world’s largest natural garden around Ghorepani areas. October to mid-December months another best time for treks around autumn/fall and pre-winter where days are clear for views as well right temperatures for walks, can be cold during night and morning times with chances of snow in high areas of Annapurna above 1,800 meters high.

A fabulous journey with daily views of high snow-capped peaks as the culture of people and village changes heading into more Buddhist country on reaching high Manang valley enclosed within high mountains of Chulus and Annapurna with Pisang peaks. At Manang enjoy visiting traditional villages and interesting monastery with a short acclimatization hike to scenic viewpoints to catch closeness of high Annapurna Himalaya, and then heading towards a steep climb to reach high Thorang-la pass at above 5,416 m with excellent views of peaks with Dhaulagiri range. Enjoying views from the highest spot of the adventure where walk leads to long descend past holy sites of Muktinath a famous mountain pilgrimage spot for both Hindu and Buddhist followers. From Muktinath adventure leads past the nice town of Jomsom headquarter of Mustang area and then following Kaligandaki River downstream through world deepest gorge of Kaligandaki to reach warmer areas at Tatopani village. A village with natural hot spring known as Tatopani in Nepalese from here heading back into cooler area reaching the scenic village of Ghorepani where short hike takes you to famous Poon Hill for a stunning sunrise over a range of Himalayan peaks with towering Machhapuchare ‘Fish Tail’ peak. Finally, our marvelous walks come to an end at a beautiful location in Pokhara by its serene lake Phewa facing grand views of Annapurna Himalaya, a lovely spot to complete Annapurna Circuit Trekking, after a wonderful adventure and experience around both sides of Annapurna Himalaya. 

Outline Itinerary:

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

Day 02: Tour of Kathmandu heritage sites of great interest.

Day 03: Drive to Syange 1,340 village via Besar town 795 m - 06 hrs.

Day 04: Trek to Dharapani 1,920 m via - 06 hrs.

Day 05: Trek to Chame 2,670 m - 05 hours.

Day 06: Trek to Pisang 3, 230 m - 05 hrs.

Day 07: Trek to Manang Village 3,450 m - 05 hrs.

Day 08: Rest day at Manang for local hikes and acclimatization. 

Day 09: Trek to Yak Kharka 4,110 m - 04 hours. 

Day 10: Trek to Thorang High Camp 4,600 m - 04 hrs. 

Day 11: Cross Thorang-La 5,416 m and to Muktinath 3,800 m - 07 hrs. 

Day 12: Overland to Tatopani 1,190m via Jomsom 2, 715 m - 05 hrs.

Day 13: Trek to Ghorepani 2,880 m - 06 hrs. 

Day 14: Hike to Poon Hill and descend to Tirkhedhunga 1,430m -05 hrs.

Day 15: Trek to Nayapul 1,100m and drive to Pokhara 860m.

Day 16: Drive or fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

Day 17: International departure for homeward bound.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

On arrival at Kathmandu international airport received by Yeti Mountain staff and guides for short transfer to your hotel in the center of Kathmandu city around interesting Thamel area or nearby. On checking into your rooms getting refreshed briefing of the treks with other useful information, with welcome dinner in nice Nepalese restaurants with cultural programs.

Day 02: Tour of Kathmandu heritage sites of great interest.

Morning by 9 a.m. where our city guide will take you for an interesting tour around great places steeped with world heritage sites and monuments, after a half day or full day tour back to the hotel with trek preparation.

Day 03: Drive to Syange 1,340 village via Besar town 795 m - 06 hrs.

Morning starts with a long and interesting drive on Nepal main busy highway to reach at Dumre town (midway from Kathmandu and Pokhara), from here leaving the main road heading into farm country to reach at Besar a large town and headquarter of Lamjung district. From here few hours drives follows River Marysangdi to reach our overnight stop at Syange village after an exciting day drive s.  

Day 04: Trek to Dharapani 1,920 m via - 06 hrs.

After a refreshing stop at Syange village start the first day walk with a climb to reach Jagat and then to Chamje village crossing over a river towards the forested area, with superb views of Annapurna and Manaslu mountain ranges. The walk continues to Tal Besi village, and then a few hours walks take you at Dharapani village for an overnight stop.

Day 05: Trek to Chame 2,670 m - 05 hrs.

Morning walk leads on the winding path within rhododendron, pine forest past Bagarchap and Danque villages, then climb to Timing village from here on into more Buddhist cultural areas facing grand views of Mt. Manaslu range.  From Timing village a few hours trek leads to Koto and then to Chame town for an overnight stop, a large town and headquarter of Manang area. 

Day 06: Trek to Pisang 3, 230 m - 05 hrs.

The adventure continues walking higher into the cooler region from here onward getting close to mountains, trek through the nice alpine forest of rhododendron and pine trees, following Masrsyangdi River upstream with short ups and down hills to Bhratang village. From Bhratang village uphill into alpine tree lines with views of Chulu and Pisang peaks, after a short break on top of a hill at Dukuri Pokhari descend to lower Pisang village for an overnight stop. 

Day 07: Trek to Manang Village 3,450 m - 05 hrs.

Pisang village offers views of Annapurna II and III, Gangapurna Chulu and Pisang peaks, as morning walk heads to Hongdae village, where tree lines drop for barren landscapes with cold, dry arctic climate.  Before Manang, visit old Braga monastery enriched with old Buddhist idols and relics and then an hour walk to main Manang village. The houses here are built in traditional Tibetan style and Manang people are known for their rich culture and traditions. 

Day 08: Rest day at Manang for local hikes and acclimatization. 

A necessary rest day for acclimatization before heading higher elevation, explore Manang village, located beneath Annapurna and Gangapurna mountain range and Manang glacial Lake.  

Day 09: Trek to Yak Kharka 4,110 m - 04 hours. 

After a good rest at Manang, morning walk head towards Ghunsang village on the uphill path to Yak Kharka, an interesting high altitude journey with views of snowcapped mountains, then cross a small stream river to reach Yak Kharka, a small settlement with tremendous views of Gangapurna, Annapurna III and Chulu Peaks. 

Day 10: Trek to Thorang High Camp 4,600 m - 04 hrs. 

Morning head towards the higher area, to reach at the base of Thorang-la after a climb along the river bank, the walk reaches at Thorang Phedi, from here hour steep climb to Thorang High Camp for an overnight stop. 

Day 11: Cross Thorang-La 5,416 m and to Muktinath 3,800 m - 07 hrs. 

Our highest point of the adventure with an early start for the long climb to reach Thorang-la walking on the steep winding route on top Thorang-La Pass at the height of 5,416 m / 17,700 ft high, offers super views of snowcapped peaks after feeling high a long descend leads you at Muktinath.  On reaching Muktinath for an overnight stop, a holy site for both Hindu and Buddhists the word Muktinath means ‘a place for Nirvana or Liberation’.

Day 12: Overland to Tatopani 1,190m via Jomsom 2, 715 m - 05 hrs.

From Muktinath, rest of the journey much easier where the motor road has reached from Pokhara to Mustang area, making possible to cut our walks for few days and taking few hour drives to cover our distance to reach low warm areas at Tatopani village.  Drive leads to a big drop of 1,200m downhill to Kaligandaki river valley, and past Jomsom, a headquarter town of Mustang region with small airstrip above Kaligandaki River. From Jomsom reaches Marpha, a nice village with whitewashed houses, paved streets and numerous well kept lodges. After past Marpha past Tukuche village, beneath Tukuche peak and Dhaulagiri with Mt. Nilgiri’s’ from here back into tree line of pines, oaks, and rhododendron, and driving through Kalapani and Lete village facing views of Mt. Annapurna -I, Nilgiri’s and Dhaulagiri range. Drive leads to a dramatic change in landscapes heading between two high peaks of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna forming world deepest gorge of Kaligandaki River and then reaching Tatopani (Hot Spring) village for an overnight stop with the warm low area.  Tatopani a nice village with large hot spring pools just by the bank of the River Kaligandaki.

Day 13: Trek to Ghorepani 2,880 m - 06 hrs. 

After Tatopani, continues our trek heading to cross a bridge over Kaligandaki River and then our route diverts to a climb on terraced hillside, dotted with farms and villages, after a scenic walk with some steep section into alpine forest reaching Chitre and then final climb to Ghorepani- village facing views of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, and Vara-Shikar also known Annapurna Fang.

Day 14: Hike to Poon Hill and descend to Tirkhedhunga 1,430m -05 hrs.

Morning short hike to Poon Hill at 3,210 m high for stunning sunrise views over the chain of mountains with Mt. Machhapuchare “The Fish Tail”, after a wonderful time at Poon Hill. The walk leads into the cool shade of beautiful rhododendron forest on gradual path downhill past Ulleri village to reach at Tirkhedhunga for last overnight stop in the hills of Annapurna Himalaya.

Day 15: Trek to Nayapul and drive to Pokhara.

From here, last day walk leads through many farm villages and terraces to a warmer area and ending the walk on the road of Baglung and Pokhara at Nayapul town, from here a few hour drives takes you to famous and scenic Pokhara city by its calm Phewa Lake for an overnight stop. 

Day 16: Drive or fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

Morning transfer for the overland journey back to Kathmandu where a drive leads on the scenic and interesting road past farm villages and towns and then uphill to reach Kathmandu valley and the city. After an exciting drive of 5-6 hours reaching Kathmandu and transfer to hotel with afternoon free for individual activities. (Flying options of 30 minutes to reach Kathmandu from Pokhara)

Day 17: International departure for homeward bound.

Last day in Nepal the country of Himalayan wonders and impressive cultures, as your international flight time transfer to the international airport in Kathmandu for home-ward bound or to respective destinations, after a memorable experience on Annapurna Circuit Trekking with grand service of Yeti Mountain Treks.
