Seasons: Nearly all months of the year except the monsoon wet times of June to mid-September. March to May best time when morning to mid-day with clear fine weather for views and walks with mild temperatures, right times for treks for Everest region mid green hills when wildflowers are in full blooming times, especially the rhododendron flowers. Rhododendron from tall trees to bushes with flowers that blossom of various species and colors that decorate the hill and valleys (national flower of Nepal). October to December months another best time for treks around autumn/fall and pre-winter where days are clear for views as well right temperatures for walks, can be cold during night and morning times with chances of snow in high areas of Everest above 2,800 meters high.
Introduction:
Gokyo Valley trekking a perfect adventure for beginners to Himalaya region as well for all types of age group and adventurer, a walk that leads you over week duration on the laps of mighty mountains and beautiful glacial lakes. Gokyo Valley trekking a little different to other most popular Everest walks, on this adventure takes you into hidden corners of high Khumbu valley within simmering icy lakes of Gokyo. Gokyo Valley enclosed by world highest mountains where the hike to Gokyo-Ri at above 5,357 m high rewards you with a stunning panorama of peak range with Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Cho-Oyu and Makalu towards the east with an array of lesser mountains. Truly a great spot with views of Gokyo valley and its glacial emerald colored lakes close to massive Ngozumba Glacier, and then heading back downhill to Lukla for a scenic flight to Kathmandu. The adventure begins with a short flight to reach at Lukla town from Kathmandu and then heading due north past many interesting Sherpa villages of Phakding-Monjo to reach famous colorful Namche Bazaar. From Namche leaving the main trails of Everest heading towards tranquil country at Gokyo valley and its beautiful lakes, a great place to enjoy the beauty of mountains and dramatic landscapes and then ending walks at Lukla, after an enjoyable time and adventure on Gokyo Valley trekking.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

Day 04: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 06 hrs.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
On arrival at Kathmandu international airport received by Yeti Mountain staff and guides for short transfer to your hotel in the center of Kathmandu city around interesting Thamel area or nearby. On checking into your rooms getting refreshed briefing of the treks with other useful information, with welcome dinner in nice Nepalese restaurants with cultural programs.
Day 02: Tour of Kathmandu heritage sites of great interest.
Morning by 9 a.m. where our city guide will take you for an interesting tour around great places steeped with world heritage sites and monuments, after a half day or full day tour back to the hotel with trek preparation.
Day 03: Fly to Lukla 2,820 m and trek to Phakding 2,657 m - 04 hrs.
The morning flies to Lukla with grand views of Himalayan peaks during 35 mins flight with Everest on reaching at Lukla with time to refresh, then continue walking on the gradual trail with few ups and down past Sherpa village to reach at Phakding for overnight stay.
Day 04: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 06 hrs.
The morning starts on the gradual trail following Dudh Kosi River upstream to reach at Monjo and Sagarmatha National Park entrance, from here on river valley within a forested area, then with a climb for few hours to reach at famous Namche Bazaar for two nights stop.
Day 05: At Namche for rest and acclimatization with a short hike.
Namche a perfect spot and heights for rest days to support acclimatization, where one can take a high up at scenic viewpoint facing Everest-Lhotse-Nuptse- Amadablam and other range of mountains, walking high resting and sleeping helps to acclimatize better before heading highest areas.
Day 06: Trek to Dole 4,110 m past Phortse Tenga - 06 hrs.
After a nice pleasant overnight in Namche Bazaar, scenic walks lead you to good walk facing mountain views, morning walk with a short climb, and then on winding trail, where route diverse to a climb for few hours to reach a high hill at Mong offers excellent views of Everest with magnificent Amadablam. After short break downhill within the cool shade of woodland to reach Phortse Tenga a village on a valley and gorge of Dudh Kosi River valley, from here slow climb takes you at Dole for overnight stop having few nice lodges to stay.
Day 07: Trek to Machherma 4,470 m - 04 hrs.
Morning leads towards higher terrain but the walk is pleasant after a short climb up to a ridge, where leaving tree lines stops for short alpine bushes of juniper and Burberry, after steep short ups from Dole. Walk gets better on nice scenic trails with grand views of Mt. Cho-Oyu a then on the downhill to a lovely valley where Machherma small settlement located with nice good lodges for the overnight stop.
Day 08: Trek to Gokyo Lake 4,800 m- 04 hrs.
From Machherma a short day walk as morning starts with a short climb to a hilltop and then on the pleasant path overlooking views of Taboche, Cho-Oyu, and Cholatse mountains, a walk leads to climbing reaching the first lake and then second lakes of Gokyo valley. After walking past the lakeside coming at last towards third and main lakes of Gokyo where nice lodge situated above the lakeside, the lake is also known as Dudh Pokhari (Milky Pond) regarded as holy by Hindu and Buddhist religions. At Gokyo check into a nice lodge for lunch and overnight stop, with afternoon free to marvel the scenic views of surroundings peaks with world 6th highest Mt. Cho-Oyu located between the border of Nepal and Tibet.
Day 09: At Gokyo hike to Gokyo-Ri 5,357 m.
A perfect place for a leisure rest day and to enjoy scenery where morning hike leads you atop Gokyo-Ri the highest point of the adventure at above 5,356 m. After a strenuous climb rewards you with world’s four highest mountains with first highest Mt. Everest (8,848 m), 4th highest Mt. Lhotse (8,516 m), 5th high Mt. Makalu (8,463 m) and 6th highest Mt. Cho-Oyu (8,201 m) with range of lesser peaks that surrounds on this scenic top. After a great moment overlooking outstanding panorama with stunning sunrise descend back to Gokyo, afternoon free at leisure for short hike around the lake of Gokyo.
Day 10: Return journey to Dole-06 hrs.
A long day walks heading back from scenic areas of Gokyo valley on much downhill walk to reach back into green vegetation and tree lines at Dole for overnight stop after a wonderful time high above Gokyo.
Day 11: Trek to Namche Bazaar - 06 hrs.
From Dole retrace the journey with ups to Mong Hill and then downhill and then on a good winding path to Namche Bazaar for an overnight stop before Lukla.
Day 12: Trek to Lukla - 06 hrs.
A long walk on last day trekking to reach Lukla, from Namche on the downhill to a river with a short climb to Monjo and then on a good trail to Phakding village, where few hours walk from here reaches you at Lukla for final overnight stop within Everest and Khumbu area.
Day 13: Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Morning as flight time transfer to Tenzing-Hillary air terminal in Lukla, board in a small aircraft either Dornier-Twin Otter or similar for the scenic flight back to Kathmandu and then to your hotel (end of our service), after a most amazing time on Gokyo Valley trekking.
Day 14: Spare and contingency day in Kathmandu.
Reserve an extra day in Kathmandu in case of flight delay and might lead to cancellation due to unfavorable bad weather conditions, can happen sometimes even in the best time of the year. If all goes well according to our standard itinerary days, enjoy this spare contingency day at leisure for individual activities.
Day 15: International departure for homeward bound.
Last day in Nepal the country of Himalayan wonders and impressive cultures, as your international flight time transfer to the international airport in Kathmandu for homeward bound or to respective destinations, after a memorable experience on Gokyo Valley Trekking with great services of Yeti Mountain Treks.
