Trip Mode: Staying in tourist standard hotels while in cities of Kathmandu and Pokhara, and on treks staying overnight in nice local lodges with camping in tents during peak climb.

Trek Grade: Moderate to Adventurous walks with uphill and downhill gaining altitude gradually.

Climbing Grade: PD + (Per Difficult and plus) means straight-forward climb with some technical difficulty to face on route to the summit of Chulu East Peak. Grading used from French / Swiss Alpine Climbing Systems.

Trek and Climbing Areas: Nepal North Mid-West around Lamjung, Manang, Mustang, Mygdi and Kaski districts within Annapurna and close to Dhaulagiri Himalaya.

Trek and Climb Duration: 16 nights and 17 days with drives both ways from Kathmandu with a short flight to Pokhara from Jomsom at the end of trekking.

People and Culture: Lower area mix tribes of people both Hindu and Buddhist religions with various interesting cultures, high Manang and Mustang areas populated by Tibetan origin tribe of North West Nepal Mountain with strong Buddhism religion.

Total Trip: 21 Nights and 22 Days from Arrival to departure (Kathmandu to Kathmandu).

Seasons: March to May and September to November months, except wet months from mid-June to mid-September, falls within Monsoon time with heavy rains and dark clouds to obstruct the views and walks. March to May the best time when morning to mid-day with clear fine weather for views and walks with mild temperatures, right times for Chulu East and Annapurna Circuit trek when wildflowers are in full bloom especially the rhododendron. Rhododendron from tall trees to bushes with flowers that blossom of various species and colors that decorates the hill and valleys (national flower of Nepal). October to November months another best time for treks around autumn/fall and pre-winter where days are clear for views as well right temperatures for walks, can be cold during night and morning times with chances of snow in high areas of Annapurna above 1,800 meters high.

Chulu East Peak Climb put you on top at above 6,584m and 21,601 ft high, which is Nepal highest trekking peaks and quite famous among trekkers and adventurer a great daring feat to challenge, taking few more days to get acclimatize and as well with practice climb before the big haul to the summit of Chulu East Peak.  Chulu East Peak Climb leads to marvelous combination with treks around Annapurna Northern and Southern areas with adventure on top high peaks and then crossing high Thorang-La pass to reach the end of the walk at Jomsom, where short scenic flight takes you to beautiful Pokhara. Starting Chulu East Peak Climb with long and interesting drive towards Nepal Mid- West around warmer agricultural villages of Lamjung district and then walking to higher hills covered within nice rhododendron and pine trees. As walk progress heading through nice villages of Dharpani-Timang to reach a large Chame headquarter town of Manang area and then soon leaving the tree lines behind to enter wild and scenic Manang valley at Pisang village. From Pisang adventure begins into complete wilderness heading at the base of Chulu East Peak, with time for final preparation where climb leads you on top with some technical effort to encounter. On reaching the top feeling in high spirit overlooking grand panorama of dramatic landscapes and series of peaks as far your eyes can take, after a great climb back at main trail of Annapurna circuit where walk leads to Manang village and its beautiful cultural houses with old monastery. After Manang heading due west to cross high and scenic Thorang-la pass with long descend to reach at Kaligandaki valley within Mustang district as walk leads past holy place of Muktinath to end the trek at Jomsom, a large town and headquarter of Mustang area. From Jomsom where short panoramic flight takes you at lovely city in Pokhara blessed with the natural beauty of mountains and lakes to end our marvelous adventure and wonderful experience on Chulu East Peak Climb.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

On arrival at Kathmandu international airport received by Yeti Mountain staff and guides for short transfer to your hotel in center of Kathmandu city around interesting Thamel area or nearby. On checking into your rooms getting refreshed briefing for trek and climb includes other useful information, with welcome dinner in nice Nepalese restaurants with cultural programs.

Day 02: Tour of Kathmandu heritage sites and trek /climb preparation.

Morning by 9 a.m. where our city guide will take you for an interesting tour around great places steeped with world heritage sites and monuments, after a half day or full day tour back to the hotel with trek preparation.

Day 03: Drive to Syange 1,340 village via Besar town 795 m - 06 hrs.

Morning start with a long and interesting drive on Nepal main busy highway to reach at Dumre town (midway from Kathmandu and Pokhara), from here leaving the main road heading into farm country to reach at Besar a large town and headquarter of Lamjung district. From here few hours drives follows River Marysangdi to reach our overnight stop at Syange village after an exciting day drive s.

Day 04: Trek to Dharapani 1,920 m via - 06 hrs.

After a refreshing stop at Syange village start the first day walk with a climb to reach Jagat and then to Chamje village crossing over a river towards the forested area, with superb views of Annapurna and Manaslu mountain ranges. The walk continues to Tal Besi village, and then a few hours walks take you at Dharapani village for an overnight stop.

Day 05: Trek to Chame 2,670 m - 05 hrs.

Morning walk leads on the winding path within rhododendron, pine forest past Bagarchap and Danque villages, then climb to Timing village from here on into more Buddhist cultural areas facing grand views of Mt. Manaslu range. From Timing village a few hours trek leads to Koto and then to Chame town for an overnight stop, a large town and headquarter of Manang area.

Day 06: Trek to Pisang 3, 230 m - 05 hrs.

The adventure continues walking higher into the cooler region from here onward getting close to mountains, trek through the nice alpine forest of rhododendron and pine trees, following Masrsyangdi River upstream with short ups and down hills to Bhratang village. From Bhratang village uphill into alpine tree lines with views of Chulu and Pisang peaks, after a short break on top of a hill at Dukuri Pokhari descend to lower Pisang village for an overnight stop.

Day 07: Rest day for acclimatization and short scenic hike.

Enjoy rest day in Pisang village necessary for acclimatization where one can take a hike to Upper Pisang and visit its old monastery along with views of Chulus, Pisang peaks, and Annapurna mountain range.

Day 08: Trek to Julu village 3,900 m - 06 hrs.

Enjoying overnight stops in Pisang village, morning our route diverts from the Annapurna main circuit trail with a climb on leaving Manang valley facing grand views of mountain range then heading towards Nagawal village. From here the walk continues due north within the high and dry country to reach July, a small village for overnight stop where camping starts with all facilities for the adventure climb.

Day 09: Trek to Chulu East Peak Base Camp 4,980 m - 04 hrs.

Morning catching views of Chulus with Annapurna Mountain morning walk leads towards the high and dry country, as to climb heads to the high ridge of Chulu East and Far East Peaks. After few hours of tough walks reach over the rocky moraine and finding a clear open space to pitch and set our overnight camp, a perfect spot on grazing field to set our base camp and starting point for the climb to Chulu East Peak summit.

Day 10: Rest day preparation for the climb and practice exercise.

Important to spare a day to support acclimatization where one can practice climb along with fantastic views of peaks, rest of the day relax and prepare for the big day to reach on top Chulu East Peak Summit.

Day 11: Climb to Chulu East Peak High Camp 5,300 - 04 hrs.

From the base, camp climb leads with much increase in altitude as route leads close and at the bottom of Chulu East Peak and close from Chulu West peak. As climb leads to cross cold icy streams and glaciers and then finding a perfect space within rocks and moraine to set High Camp, rest of the day guide will check the area and route of climb for next early morning big and long ascent.

Day 12: Climb of Chulu East peak and return to base camp.

Morning at the crack of dawn climb over snow slope with steep technical sections to reach on top of the summit; where our expert guides provide full support as well fixing ropes around necessary sections to make climb accessible and success, after a final climb reach on top of Chulu East facing stunning panorama of mountains as far your eyes can take.  Feeling high in top spirit after the great experience of lifetime facing outmost views of then descend on the same route safely back at base camp.

Day 13: Contingency and spare day in case bad weather conditions.

For this type of technical alpine style climb where spare and contingency day is necessary, as well taking time as weather permits the climb can delay in case of unfavorable bad weather condition, if all goes well as per our standard itinerary days, enjoy making a short day on return journey towards Mustang on route Jomsom.

Day 14: Trek to Manang 3,350m - 04 hrs.

From the base camp reach Nagwal after Zulu village, where long descend takes you to Hongde village, and then on gradual walk to Manang past Braga village visit its interesting monastery. Monastery of Braga, the main old religious site in whole Manang district enriched with an outstanding display of statues, thangka ancient manuscripts, from here it is only an hour walk to Manang for an overnight stop in the comfort of a nice cozy lodge.

Day 15: Trek to Yak Kharka 4,110m - 04 hrs.

After a pleasant overnight at Manang main village walk leads toward Ghunsang village with short uphill to reach Yak Kharka, an interesting walk with views of snowcapped mountains, on crossing a small stream reaching Yak Kharka for an overnight stop, a small settlement with views of Gangapurna, Annapurna III and Chulu Peaks.

Day 16: Trek to Thorang High Camp 4,600 m - 04 hrs.

Morning head towards the higher area, to reach at the base of Thorang-la after a climb along the river bank, the walk reaches at Thorang Phedi, from here hour steep climb to Thorang High Camp for an overnight stop.

Day 17: Cross Thorang-La 5,416 m and to Muktinath 3,800 m - 07 hrs.

Our highest point of the adventure with an early start for the long climb to reach Thorang-la walking on the steep winding route on top Thorang-La Pass at the height of 5,416 m / 17,700 ft high, offers super views of snowcapped peaks after feeling high a long descend leads you at Muktinath. On reaching Muktinath for an overnight stop, a holy site for both Hindu and Buddhists the word Muktinath means ‘a place for Nirvana or Liberation’.

Day 18: Trek to Jomsom 2, 715 m - 04 hrs.

From Muktinath, rest of the journey much easier as walk leads to a big drop of 1,200m downhill to Kaligandaki river valley to reach Jomsom, headquarter town of Mustang region with small airstrip above Kaligandaki River. At Jomsom enjoy an afternoon walking around the shops and streets of Jomsom and observe the interesting culture of Thakali people on this old Trans Himalayan Salt and Caravan route of Nepal and Tibet. Jomsom a nice town similar to Tibetan style houses with paved streets and numerous well kept lodges for travelers.

Day 19: Morning flight to Pokhara 860 m transfer to hotel.

From here, last day of our adventure taking an early morning short flight to reach famous and scenic Pokhara city by its calm Phewa Lake for an overnight stop, with a free afternoon to explore around interesting Pokhara city.

Day 20: Drive or fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

Morning transfer for the overland journey back to Kathmandu where a drive leads on the scenic and interesting road past farm villages and towns and then uphill to reach Kathmandu valley and the city. After an exciting drive of 5-6 hours reaching Kathmandu and transfer to hotel with afternoon free for individual activities. (Flying options of 30 minutes to reach Kathmandu from Pokhara)

Day 21: International departure for homeward bound.

Last day in Nepal the country of Himalayan wonders and impressive cultures, as your international flight time transfer to the international airport in Kathmandu for home-ward bound or to respective destinations, after a memorable experience on Chulu East Climb and Annapurna Circuit Trekking with grand service of Yeti Mountain Treks.
