This is one of the highest trekking peaks in Nepal, Which rises to the south of Mt. Everest and dominates the watershed between the wild and heavily wooded valleys of the Hinku and Hongu Drangkas. Both valleys remain uninhabited although there are Kharkas (the grazing field for household animals) in the upper basin of Hinku near Pangkongma. The ascent from the Mera La, is |

technically straight forward and the most rewarding aspect of a trip.
It is a chance to venture into a little visited and as yet unspoiled
region of Nepal where the hillsides are still densely forested and need
to be self-sufficie After the Mera Summit the trail descends crossing Mingbo La or Amphu Lapcha down to Everest classic route to Chukung or Pangboche via Tyangboche Monastery. From here we trek to Namche and down to Lukla and fly back to Kathmandu the next day. |
